13 Day Drover Gulf And Kakadu All Overland Accommodated Safari

The Gulf & Kakadu "Drover" is a 12 day all overland accommodated safari through northern Australia between Cairns and Darwin - the epic Gulf Savannah region and the Gulf Country, the majestic outback vistas of the Northern Territory and the unique wetlands of Kakadu National Park.

Itinerary

Day 1 (LD): Atherton Tableland, Curtain Fig Tree, "The Crater" National Park. Undara Lava Tubes, the world's largest. Antique railway carriage accommodation.

Day 2 (BLD): On to Cobbold Gorge, to cruise on its secluded waterway before a sunset drive Georgetown to overnight.

Day 3 (BLD): Croydon’s Historic Precinct before Normanton’s "Gulflander", the Purple Pub and Krys, replica of an 8.63m (28ft 4in) crocodile. Gulf of Carpentaria sunset cruise. Karumba tonight.

Day 4 (BLD): "Plains of Promise", Burke & Wills Camp #119, Leichhardt Falls and Burketown en-route to Adel’s Grove for two nights in permanent tent safari accommodation.

Day 5 (BLD): World Heritage listed Riversleigh Fossil Fields and Lawn Hill National Park. Return to Adel's Grove.

Day 6 (BLD): Across Lawn Hill Station to the Queensland Road, now the "Savannah Way", once used by the legendary "Overlanders". On past Hell's Gate we cross into the Northern Territory to Pungalina, a remote safari camp with tented accommodation.

Day 7 (BLD): Continue west to Borroloola, infamous frontier town, for supplies then on to Cape Crawford for the night.

Day 8 (BD): Helicopter to see the "Lost City" (optional). Daly Waters, Elsey Cemetery and Mataranka Hot Springs. Overnight in Mataranka.

Day 9 (BLD): Manyallaluk, "The Dreaming Place", to spend time with local Aboriginal people. On to our overnight stop in Katherine.

Day 10 (BLD): Cruise on famous Katherine Gorge this morning (optional) before travelling into Kakadu National Park. We stay in Kakadu for two nights.

Day 11 (B): Nourlangie Rock and the Bowali Centre. A sunset cruise on famous Yellow Waters Billabong (optional).

Day 12 (BL): Ubirr’s famous Aboriginal rock art and views of the East Alligator River floodplains. Travel on to Darwin.

Day 9 (BLD): To Karumba (Burketown, Normanton)

Day 10 (BLD): To Cobbold Gorge (Croydon, Georgetown)

Day 11 (BLD): To Undara (Cobbold Gorge cruise)

Day 12 (BL): To Cairns (Lava Tubes tour)
