The Cape York "Complete" is a 14 day all overland camping safari that explores one of Australia's last great wilderness regions - a land of history and ancient culture, crystal clear spring-fed creeks, huge termite mounds, and a vast and amazing variety of natural landscapes, including Iron Range National Park.

Itinerary

Day 1 (LD): Over the Great Dividing Range to climb to Split Rock to see ancient Aboriginal rock art. Into Lakefield National Park to camp.

Day 2 (BLD): Waterlily covered billabongs, wildlife and a great variety of birdlife in Lakefield National Park this morning. Visit the historic telegraph station of Musgrave before travelling on to Coen and Archer River. Continue on to Merluna, a remote family operated cattle station, where we camp tonight.

Day 3 (BLD): On to Weipa on the Gulf Of Carpentaria and an opportunity to learn about this remote community on a tour (optional) of the town and its bauxite mine. Leaving Weipa we travel east through Batavia Downs Station to our camp at the historic Moreton Telegraph Station on the Wenlock River.

Day 4 (BLD): 4WD action, adventure and fun on the Telegraph Track today Camp at Eliot (Twin/Indian Head) Falls tonight.

Day 5 (BLD): Across the mighty Jardine River to our camp on the shores of Torres Strait for four balmy nights.

Day 6 (BLD): A fascinating visit to the Lockerbie Scrub, an isolated pocket of monsoon rainforest, on our way to Somerset on Albany Passage where you can ponder the past, our explorers, pioneers and the Cape's traditional owners. Now, an emotional walk to the very top of Australia - CAPE YORK!

Day 7 (BD): Choose from a tropical cruise to Thursday Island or fishing with a professional guide (both optional). Alternatively, take your bird book and binoculars for a bushwalk or relax at the beach with a good book.

Day 8 (BD): A day at leisure in this tropical paradise. Go fishing, bushwalking or birdwatching, stroll along the beach or simply relax with a good book.

Day 9 (BLD): South to Fruit Bat Falls for lunch and a refreshing swim. Continue through Cape York’s unique wilderness to our overnight camp.

Day 10 (BLD): Across the Wenlock and Pascoe Rivers (conditions permitting) to Iron Range National Park, Australia’s largest remaining area of tropical lowland rainforest. Camp at Chili Beach.

Day 11 (BLD): Visit Portland Roads and see other secrets hidden in the Iron Range rainforest. Leave through Tozers Gap and visit Batavia gold fields. Camp at Archer River.

Day 12 (BLD): South to Coen then on to the historic telegraph station of Musgrave. Continue to Jowalbinna, an epicentre for Quinkan Rock Art over 30,000 years old in picturesque sandstone valleys. Camp at Jowalbinna tonight.

Day 13 (BLD): A morning rock art exploration, delving into the traditional lives of the region’s first inhabitants. Travel to historic Cooktown and walk where Captain Cook once walked, enjoy Grassy Hill's spectacular views and relive the gold rush days strolling past heritage buildings. We camp near Cooktown tonight.

Day 14 (BL): Black Mountain and the Lion's Den Hotel before the Bloomfield Track and Cape Tribulation (weather permitting). Daintree rainforest before arriving in Cairns.
